We do now.....and so does my 13 year old. When you hear screaming, feet running (several) and doors opening and slamming....you AGE.
Our experience Saturday afternoon, boys working on their snowmobile and gas splatters Evan but good and gets both eyes.....flushed them out well at home but panic is high in the home (not me, I remain calm and take the mode this isn't really happening and deal with the situation...later, well, then maybe I panic but......) so off to ER we go, (yes I am the one with some of my clothes inside out, just a minor detail!!!) Evan is frantic, eyes burning and of course very frightened for his vision....the nurses waiting and ready for him, quickly comfort him and take the pain away and then the above is introduced.........a Morgan Lens http://www.morganlens.com/faq.html connected to an IV like bags of solution and begin to flush both eyes...My son....is he really mine????, yes, wanted pictures of the set up so he could see what he was going through....that's my boy...pictures....I refrain from posting the ones of Evan with the flush going cause it is enough to turn you away....
Poison Control...where are those numbers when you need them.....1-800- nurse, where that #, hospital/ER, that number....think maybe I had a little panic going.... ha ha....once on the road the ER # was readily recalled but.....
Poison Control was called by ER and you know what?, gas and water do not mix so his eyes are going to be just fine....those tears are not only meant for sadness/joy but.....ahhhhhhhhh....our bodies are amazing! So they flushed the eyes until it did not pain him and sent home with RX-drops....."alls well ends well" !
Doctor...."were you wearing glasses/goggles"......at departure...."wear goggles next time" So that's what all those warning stickers are about...
why, oh, why do we have to learn the hard way?
Thinking of families today that lost sons too young....one, 25 and another, 45....both heart attacks, this past week. Sad.
The Basketball team will be wearing some "pink" for cancer awareness...soon and this too is taking on a new meaning....it happens to anyone, is not partial to age or circumstance.

Scary!! but how many times we can thank our body's natural protection. Glad he's okay. What a way to learn a lesson.
