CORN PICKER

Farmer's Gold Today we got to watch corn picking somewhat like my dad did in my childhood....I so badly want my boys to see this plus I wanted to see it again. This picking set-up is modern compare to what my dad had but also very different than the farmer's combining that most use.
Isaac was invited to ride in the tractor and learn more from this point of view.
"Why do you pick instead of combining?" asked Evan.
"It is cheaper to let the corn dry in the crib & shell next summer, plus the corn test weight is more when hauled to the elevator".....(I think there is some nostalgia for them too???!!?) down memory lane, I went today....its amazing when you get older you remember it with fondness....YIKES...am I getting that old?!!
...unloading the corn....when I was a kid we would play on these kind of elevator & would even ride up them....not the safest thing but.....kids don't think that way. It was just fun!!
Seeing the crib of corn is so pretty, I can't wait until shelling time. Hope they remember to call us when they shell.
Isaac, Mackenzie, Ethan (his dad and grandpa's farm) & Evan This too is what we kids did growing up, climbing the cribs & now my son is doing the very same thing.
Evan's thinking...."you know someone should make a machine that does the picking and shelling all in one".....I said, "combine "......yep, here is another one of those, did you ever think about it...picker & sheller together....a COMBINE...... a machine we all know & call it such but did you really think about its name?....I hadn't.
...this is much like what my family would have used, Ford tractor and Ford picker.
THANKS-A-BUNCH FRIENDS/NEIGHBORS FOR SHARING WITH US

It was fun for our guys too. Of course we will remember to call you. Thanks for coming and sharing something so may think is soooo outdated!
