From the time you see the flower you can expect to pick the fruit in 30 days. Muskmelons go by days and watermelons ripen by heat so that is why the watermeon are so late this year as our summer is unseasonably cooler than normal. Pictures show the different stages of muskmelon maturing. A good muskmelon will have thick netting on them at maturity and when we pick the stem will easily pull off. Also a real good melon will have drops of red/orange juice at the stem when you pick.
