Tyler Owen Grotz(click)
Chaplain R. as well as the trucker did not thoroughly search
the bible or its contents,
thinking there may have been a wrongful death
or just too personal.
The chaplain found a phone # on one of the list,
so contacted her telling Gina that Tyler Owen's bible had been found!
Gina said to just send it to them and she would get it to Tyler's family!
Tyler's family were thrilled to know it was found,
so with many days of anticipation
they await the package.
The package went from
California, to Minnesota,
given to Tyler's aunt,
who then sent it to Tyler's family in Nebraska.
In all this the package was not opened
until.....it got to Tyler's parents.
It was not Tyler's............

Dear Gina, Our family is now
involved in the Bible that traveled! On March 29 , we went to Luverne for
Gospel Mtg, 45 minutes or so away. When we got home Evan realized he did not
have his meeting bag. I texted David right away and he went the next morning to
look for it, talked with the lady in charge also checked elsewhere in town to
no avail. I also checked later to see if it showed u[ and of course when we
were there the next time kept my eyes open for it. Saturday AM Brenda G called and said they have it!!! Anyways I/ we are wondering what you know.
Where/who/when it may have been found and such....very interesting to know what
might have happened!
Thanks, if you could just let me
know what was said and such. We are thrilled to know his meeting bag and
notebook will be home this week sometime and would like to piece the story
together a bit.
Morning Janna! Oh this is crazy!
Here's what I know... Maybe around the 1st or 2nd week of April, a chaplain
from California left us a message. He had a beat up bible that a trucker had
found on top of a dumpster, at a rest stop or truck stop just off the freeway
in California. He didn't know what to do with it but didn't want it left on the
dumpster, so he dropped it off with this chaplain. The chaplain runs this
chapel called Transport for Christ, for truckers. So the chaplain (Richard is
his name), didn't want to dig through it too much...For some reason he thought
the bible belonged to Tyler G___ and our phone number was on one of the first
pieces of paper he came to. So after a week or two of phone tag, I finally
talked with him on the phone and he mailed it to us! It arrived Friday before
special meeting and Anita (f____) was coming to our house after special mtg,
so we thought we would hang on to it until she came. We never did open the
inner package that it was wrapped in, it seemed too personal and we just wanted
to get it on to Duane and Brenda! When Anita came, she didn't want to open it
either, she just wanted to mail it on to them! So we never did verify that it
was actually Tyler's. Brenda said there was a bible of Tyler's they had never
found, so it seemed to make sense. So--- does it turn out to actually be
Evan's?? Maybe he had a bookmark or something with Tyler's name on it? Now I'm
curious too!
8:00am
It is Evan's! The bible marker is
from Tyler's funeral...maybe the Chaplain thought it was like a confirmation
marker or such rather than a memorial marker and the list is the convention
list (i believe). Anyway the bible bag is fine & Evan's notebook is fine(brenda
said).........which he had tons of notes in so he is happy he to get that back!
In the notebook Brenda said there was a letter from his former GF that Tonya
knew. Tonya, Mackenzie and Evan are all friends so the pieces fell into place a
bit. Tonya had told Mackenzie that Tyler's bible was found in California and
happy about it, Kenzie knew Evan's bible was missing..........just not ever
thinking they were the one and the same!!!!!!!!!! Also Tyler's Bible is NOT
missing Brenda found it in his stuff so two momma's feel a bit of peace about
their sons' bibles! I am thinking i will call the chaplain sometime after we
get Evan's bible back! Thank you for all you did. What an adventure!
I spoke with the Chaplain and his wife....
he logged the information and conversation of the trucker,
he was going to get me the information but hasn't yet....
i may need to call him back.
For a while we thought the Bible was intentionally damaged.
We now think it got set on top of the Suburban, fell off and was driven over.
Still amazed how it got from Minnesota to California,
why it just wasn't thrown in the dumpster.....
With love, Mom
