a school in Uganda
Joseph newly arrived to the states wants to know if 'today' is the day he goes to school....school in Uganda is a status and a privilege, how many times do I tell my kids they have to go to school?~no choice. This little guy wants to go, needs to go, in his country sacrifices are made to enable a child to attend school, we feel its our right in America, take it so for granted, shame on us/me.
this is the bus that picks up my kids everyday, I expect it.
In many countries, you walk, not across town, or down the road, but you may walk a couple hours to get there....we complain of a noisy long bus trip, shame on us/me.
when you see this...we see watermelon and squash to eat and oh, and pumkins to carve or set out for a fall look..
Joseph sees a pumpkin...it is to eat,
but the kid is amazing in understanding so much alread. Joseph is seeing pumpkins since being home....asks "are they to eat or a picture (decorating)"
....America, a land that had so much, wastes so much, wants so much and takes so much for granted, shame on us/me.
Ryelynn 4 (born in Ethiopia) and in the USA since Feb. 2008 tells Joseph....
"Joseph, you are brown just like me!"
......sweetness at its best......I love being on the sidelines watching/listening.... as this family adjust to being a family of 4 to 5 and two in school and 1 in preschool amongst everything else that it takes to be a family.
