We are very lucky/fortunate, with only wet carpet in the basement and waterlogged fields, and some hail with minimum damage.
Friday late evening and again Saturday evening there was severe weather in the region, high winds, torrential rains, hail, flash flooding and devastating tornadoes.
Our farm had 3.5 inches of rain total in the 2 evenings. The last rain (2 inches) came with driving force therefore wet basement but hey, that is okay, we have a house above us and no further damage.
A few pictures I gleaned off the Internet of the tornado damage in the Little Rock, Sibley,IA area, 3o miles south (where mom and dad are)...

Vehicles that were victim of the weather, 3 were in a pile up like accident, and some were cars that parked under an overpass only to be sucked out and tossed around like paper in the wind. There is no report of fatalities and/or severe injuries...
This couple just made it to their basement before the house was gone, not sure if this was the couple but one couple told each other goodbye and then fell asleep only to wake up in the morning alive but buried in the rubble...
The half mile wide tornado took out a farm place, went across the section to take out the rest of their farm...4 hog confinements destroyed to toothpicks-
"when pigs fly"
came to fruition!!
Probably a common & wise scene in the area Friday/Saturday evening...

Yikes! We thought it was going to be bad here Sat. night, so we put the kids to bed in the basement on their camping beds. They thought it was a grand adventure! Turns out we didn't get anything...not even rain. Glad everything is still standing up there!
Wow. You have had some crazy scary weather! Just catching up on your blog posts. I've been MIA... sorry! We actually thought of you as we came to the SD/MN/IA corners on our way home the 2nd... had to look up where your town was.
