When we were able to get a room for mom and dad in Sibley my sis and I consoled ourselves that it was a good choice because.....
A) it was much closer to me, 30 miles vs. 90 miles
B) back to where they started their lives together 59 years ago
C) a lot of their friends in the area
D) mom worked for families as hired girl when she was young in this area,
thus the above picture....the lady in the blue slacks, Annie Braaksma was expecting the lady in the green, mom help care for her and her older siblings (pictured)...their Aunt is in the home, Annie and 'the baby' are excited to recall the story of the baby coming a month later than planned and so forth...
Yes, mom and dad are in a good place, full circle..
Dad not well today, fever during the night, sleeping soundly today with fever back up...comfortable in his bed with wonderful staff attentive to him...little fluids... mom very sad.
