MUDDY CONDITIONS

BREAK TIME
Working condition are muddy but the kids seem happy. Sweetened the situation with zucchini coffee cake and whipped cream.
I am trying to be understanding with the mud in the house. If you drop by and this what you see please shake out the rugs and sweep.
Melons (all produce leaves the yard clean) are being sorted to size and washed before shipped to the stores. This produce washer K. got on an auction for $5o and then refurbished. A great addition to the shed.
PRODUCE WASHER
This past weekend we got 1.3 inch of rain. Farmers are happy....timing was almost perfect. Crop farmers needed it for the beans and aphid damage. Apparently the aphid suck the moisture out of the plant. Crop sprayer are very busy now spraying for them. K. said we needed it to fill out the sweetcorn ears and also the pumpkins were starting to abort do to dry ground. Pumpkins this year were planted in direct dirt rather that raised beds covered with plastic as mulch and drip tape for irrigation. The only way to water would be with broad-cast spraying so the rain was welcomed.
